After taking over the reins of a Bologna outfit languishing in the lower reaches of the table, Roberto Donadoni now manages a team brimming with the self-belief that comes with taking 27 points from their previous 15 matches.

Having overseen the fifth best run of form of any Serie A club since arriving in the Rossoblu dugout at the end of October, the former Parma coach urged his players to rise to the challenge of hosting league leaders Juventus on Friday evening at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

“We’re excited about taking on the strongest team in the division. Our objective is that we can cope better year on year in matches against the top sides, as that would be a sure sign of our level being better than the average.

“We’re very focused on the things we need to do and we don’t want to disappoint anyone. We’re aware that it’ll be a tough encounter, one where we’ll need to put in a big performance and play to the best of our abilities.”

Turning his attentions to how his charges will approach the match tactically, Donadoni emphasised the importance of taking full advantage of their moments in possession, while staying as solid as possible in defence.

He concluded: “We need to make the best of things when we have the ball and we can’t give away too many scoring opportunities. Juve will be keen to continue their hot run of form, but the same goes for us.”
