Having bagged his first goal of the season at Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, Paulo Dybala got off the mark in Serie A with the opener in Juventus’ 3-0 win over Empoli on Sunday.

“I needed to get my first league goal,” admitted Dybala after the final whistle. “I’ve rediscovered my shooting boots after the goal in Zagreb.”

Dybala’s fine second-half strike set Juventus on their way to victory in a match that had proved tough going for Massimiliano Allegri’s men.

Dybala’s compatriot Gonzalo Higuain then added two more goals to secure the result for Juve, with La Joya revealing that the understanding between the two strikers is growing all the time.

“We’re always together, in training and away from the pitch. We talk about football all the time. In some games we find it easier to link up, while it’s a bit tougher in other matches.

“In Zagreb we were up against an opponent that kept it really tight and made it hard to play the ball around, but Empoli gave us a bit more space today.

“I’m pleased with the performance and the win. It was important to get the result and keep a clean sheet today and we’ve done that. Now we need to keep this up,” said Dybala.
