Juventus’ Primavera strengthened their grip on top spot by beating Fiorentina 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Tuscany.

The Bianconeri began brightly and took a deserved lead in the 18th minute through Andrea Favilli, the striker’s 12th league goal of the campaign.

Nicolò Pozzebon and Claudio Zappa both came close to extending the visitors’ advantage before the break, the latter seeing his deflected effort come off the crossbar, but they would have to settle for a slender lead going into the second half.

Fiorentina improved after the interval and found the equaliser in the 59th minute when Jan Mlakar bundled home following a melee in the Bianconeri box.

No more than a minute would pass, however, before Fabio Grosso’s charges regained their lead when Joss Didiba headed home from a free-kick.

Having reassumed the driving seat, Juve pushed for a third goal which they would ultimately celebrate with ten minutes remaining, as Favilli rounded off a fine move involving Roman Macek and Pozzebon for his second strike of the afternoon.

The result sees the Primavera move five points clear of second-placed Virtus Entella with three games left to play. Next on the agenda is a trip to Livorno this Saturday.
