Just three minutes were on the clock when the Bianconeri took the lead, Pol Lirola feeding Didiba to get Fabio Grosso’s charges up and running. The Cameroonian midfielder doubled both his and Juventus’ tally shortly before the break, rising highest to head them into the interval with a strong advantage.

A second-half response from Bologna threatened to make life difficult for Juventus, but Di Massimo put the final result beyond any doubt with an inch-perfect free-kick that left the Rossoblu goalkeeper with no chance.

Grosso’s youngsters will face Spezia on Monday 28 March in the semi-finals, following the Ligurians’ 2-1 last eight triumph over Torino.

Speaking after the game, the Primavera coach said: “Credit to Bologna, who played a good game. Our attitude for long spells of the game was spot on, but we know we can do better.”
