After an enterprising start to the domestic season, Wednesday’s visitors Sevilla have arrived in Turin in high spirits, safe in the knowledge that they have what it takes to compete on Europe’s biggest stages.

Previewing tomorrow night’s Champions League opener in their pre-match press conference, head coach Jorge Sampaoli and summer signing Franco Vazquez – former strike partner of Bianconeri star Paulo Dybala while the duo were at Palermo – as such have promised a brave performance from their team at Juventus Stadium.

The key quotes from the Rojiblancos pair’s media meeting are as follows:

Vazquez: "Here to express ourselves"

“We are here to express ourselves and take the game to Juventus. The style that we want to play demands that we keep the ball and spend as much as time as possible in the opposition’s half. We’ve shown against the big sides in Spain in the past that it’s not a simple matter of nullifying the other team and focusing on defending.

“We’ve made a good start to the season, we’ll need a bit of time to truly show what we are made of given the number of new players we have welcomed to the club over the summer but the early signs are promising.

“Juve have had a very good transfer window and now more than ever, can hurt you from everywhere on the field. (Former team-mate) Dybala is undoubtedly a key part of their side but he’s not the only player we’ll need to be wary of.

“The challenge of coming to such a famous stadium and imposing ourselves is one that we are truly relishing.”

Sampaoli: "Passion and pride"

“I’m looking for my players to go out there and compete with passion and to do the jersey proud.

"Occasions like this demand top performances and we’ll be giving everything to ensure we return home with three points. Football is a team game and if we stick together and play as a unit, anything's possible.

“A good result here against a side like Juventus would prove beyond doubt that we deserve to be at this level. Juve are right up there with the other top clubs. With the likes of Higuain arriving and Cuadrado returning, they've maintained their potential and experience, adding even more quality.

"That said, I hope this game gives us the chance to show that the gap between the teams on paper can be reduced on the pitch.

“All I can guarantee about this group phase is that my team will fight to the last minute of every match. If we do that, we have a strong chance of reaching the knockout round."
