Summarising Sunday’s screamer

“I’m really happy. I saw the ball bouncing in my direction and I just thought about hitting it first time. I was a bit fortunate, but we always stop to practice our shooting after training sessions. It was just a fantastic feeling.

“You pull off a strike like that every 10 shots! What’s more important however is that we got the win and put in a top team performance. Personally I hope to score more goals now and just as important ones as last night's too.”

Maintaining momentum

“We go into every game looking for three points. We know that there are teams right behind us who are keeping up the pace and looking to take their opportunities in order to close the gap. That’s why we’re always looking to get a result.

“Next up we’ve Crotone who will gives us a tough game. We need to approach it with the same determination as ever to make sure we collect maximum points.”

It’s a team effort

“With this new formation I’ve had a lot more opportunities to play and thankfully we’re going really well at the minute.

“Tactics aside, every single member of this squad is showing that hunger and drive to make the difference, starting from the strikers right through to Gigi (Buffon) and Neto in goal. With this kind of team unity, we’re sending out an extremely strong signal to our opponents.”

An eye on Europe

“The Champions League is a unique competition, where formations are one thing, but our desire and determination to get a result will count for even more.

“Juve is obviously a great club that’s always looking to go as far as possible. You need to be 100% willing to win. However, we’ve still several matches to concentrate on before resuming our European campaign.”

Delighted with career decisions

“In life there are times when you need to make choices. When I came here initially on loan last season I fitted in very well and was delighted to return to Italy, as was my family, and it was special winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia.

“Last summer I opted to return here on a permanent basis and I’m very grateful that I managed to do just that. Now I’m hoping to win many more things with this club.

“I thank Chelsea for everything too and I’m pleased that they’re enjoying such a strong season in the Premier League.”
