Juventus stole the show at tonight’s ‘Gran Galà del Calcio’ ceremony in Milan, winning the awards for Best Club and Best Manager for the 2015/16 season, as well as having seven members of the squad named in the team of the year.

The Bianconeri’s sensational run to a history-making fifth successive Scudetto title saw Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain all included in Serie A’s best XI.

For defender Bonucci there was the added recognition of being voted Best Player over the course of the previous campaign.

Picking up the Best Club award on behalf of Juventus, CEO Giuseppe Marotta declared: “This is a glorious and victorious club. Winning is in Juventus’ DNA and we’re always looking to continue this tradition.”

Upon collecting his Best Coach award, Massimiliano Allegri reserved special praise for his players:

“They’re the ones who have won on the pitch, so they deserve the credit. It’s no secret how to succeed in this game. You need good players and a good club, then the manager must make sure he doesn’t do anything wrong.

“A sixth straight Scudetto is our objective. It would be a legendary achievement and one which no club has ever achieved before. There’s Roma, Napoli and Inter also competing for the title this season and Sunday’s match against the Nerazzurri will be a key contest.”

Completing Serie A’s best XI for the 2015/16 season were Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, former Bianconero, Paul Pogba, Roma’s Radja Nainggolan and Napoli’s Marek Hamsik in midfield.
