Massimiliano Allegri spoke of his satisfaction after Juventus bounced back from defeat in the Champions League with a convincing win over Sassuolo on Sunday lunchtime.

"You have to hand it to the lads,” he said after the game. "There were only a couple of minutes when we lost control – sometimes you read the game wrongly, but then you have to get back on it and that’s what we did.

"At the back we just need to get all the cogs working, but at this point last season we’d conceded four goals in the league when we’ve only conceded three this time around."

Allegri also looked back to the Barcelona performance, stressing that there is still work to do to improve as a result.

"We played well in Barcelona but only for one half," he said. "We eased off on the pressure after that and lost our organisation. That’s a flaw we showed today as well when we went 2-0 up – we gave them too many chances and that can’t happen."

The Bianconeri coach had warm praise for hat-trick hero Paulo Dybala.

"He still has room for improvement, but at times he’s just unplayable. He’s turning into an extraordinary player," said Allegri.

Allegri also spoke about Dybala’s strike partner, Gonzalo Higuain.

"Higuain played well – he played for the team," he said. "He needs time to recover when we’re playing every three days. I have some great players up front and substitutions will be vital. When you’re at a big club, you have to use your quality to help the group get the win. The league will be a very long battle."
