Juan Cuadrado and Federico Bernadeschi were on the scoresheet as Juventus ran out 2-0 winners away at Olympiacos, sealing passage into the last 16 of Europe’s premier competition. Here is what the players had to say after the game:

Wojciech Szczesny

“We knew that Olympiacos are strong at home, as they’re urged on by their fans. You need a good defence to win here and we managed to pick up three points and not concede.

"As for my own performance, when you’re a Juve player you feel great responsibility. You always have to be at your best and be ready when called upon.

"We’ve got the game against Inter to come and we feel confident because we’ve picked up some good results in recent games, with good performances.”

Juan Cuadrado

“I’m happy about the win, because getting into the next round was our main objective. Now it’s time to focus on Inter, which is going to be an important match.

"It wasn’t an easy game and we have to improve, keep giving our best and develop further. It was key not to concede – we’re working hard in defence and we need to keep this up.”

Mattia De Sciglio

“We could have put the match to bed earlier and brought it under our control, but we risked putting the result in jeopardy. Nonetheless we managed to stay compact and secure a really important win, because advancing in the Champions League was our first objective this season.

"This game is now in the past. We’re going through an intense period, with games coming thick and fast. From tomorrow we’ll start thinking about Saturday’s match against Inter.”

Andrea Barzagli

“We got a positive result after what proved to be a tough match – we were under the cosh at times and credit to Olympiacos for that. In the first half, we had two or three chances to kill the game off. Then in the second half some errors crept in, with a few too many misplaced passes and counter attacks that broke down, which gave our opponents some impetus.

"We managed to put the game to bed in the 90th minute and we’re happy with the result and the fact we’ve reached the last 16. Now we have a big but exciting game coming up, so we’ll get ready to face Inter and push on after that, because the coming month is going to be very demanding indeed.”

Federico Bernardeschi

“It was a very important win as it brings us through to the next round. It was tough, on a difficult pitch and in front of a big set of fans. We’re glad about the improvement we’ve shown.

"I’m happy with my goal, my first in the Champions League – the goalkeeper saved an earlier one I tried. I really wanted to score to help the team and I managed to do so. When you work hard and really commit to achieving your targets, the results come for you.

"We came here off the back of a big win at Napoli, which really sent out a message to the rest of the league and to our rivals. With this win in the bag we’ll get ready to face Inter at home in what will be a great game and one we need to get three points from.”
