Mattia De Sciglio was over the moon as he spoke to the media following Juventus’ 3-0 win over Crotone on Sunday night, a match that saw the Italian score his first ever goal in Serie A just minutes after coming off the bench.

"It was an amazing feeling," admitted De Sciglio. "I didn’t even know how to celebrate but suddenly all my team-mates were around me, including [Gigi] Buffon, who had run all the way from the other end of the pitch. It was awesome and I’m delighted – it was about time!"

De Sciglio’s lack of goals has not been for want of trying, with the defender keen to dedicate the all-important goal to his loved ones.

"I’ve always had a go when I’ve had a bit of space, both in previous seasons and with Juve against Barcelona away, and now it’s finally happened," he said. "I’d like to dedicate it to my partner, my family, my friends and my grandparents, who are looking down on me. My first goal is for them."

The Italian also had a word of thanks for his coach, Massimiliano Allegri.

"I definitely owe the boss a lot," he said. "He’s always believed in me, even when I’ve had it tough."
