Juventus Women made it a home debut to remember as they strolled to victory in the return leg of their Coppa Italia first-round tie against Torino on Saturday.

Having put 13 goals past the same opponents when they made their competitive bow in the first leg last Saturday, today Rita Guarino's side introduced themselves to the home crowd by notching another eight at the Ale&Ricky pitch in Vinovo.

While the result was never in doubt, it was nonetheless a useful opportunity for the girls to hone their understanding ahead of their Serie A curtain-raiser against Mozzanica at the end of September.

New signings Katie Rood, Cecilia Salvai and Tuija Hyyrynen all made their Bianconeri debuts – Rood and Salvai marking the occasion with a brace apiece.

Benedetta Glionna also helped herself to two while Katie Zelem and a Torino own goal completed the rout.

RITA GUARINO'S VIEW

“We went with lots of girls who didn't play in the first leg today and it was a chance for us to put into practice the things we'd tried out in training.

“I'm pleased because we got a feel for the pitch we'll be playing on at home in the league and had a decent turnout despite the weather. It means people are interested in us – hopefully that interest will keep growing.

“We're looking forward to getting our league campaign underway on 30 September. It will be an interesting away match.”

A BRACE FOR CAPTAIN CECILIA

“This is a special day for me as I made my Juventus debut. It's a real honour and even more so because I was wearing the captain's armband.

“I was so determined to perform well and my two goals came as a result.

“We're only just starting out but our aim is to become a real team. We've got some good foundations to build on and huge margin for improvement.”
