In the same calendar year but new season, the Bianconeri fell in the UEFA Cup 2-1 to Olympiacos in Greece.

In 2003, a Nedved double saw the Bianconeri come back to win 2-1 while the most recent trip to face Olympiacos in 2015 in Athens ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts.
