Matuidi: “An excellent away win”

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi reacts to the Bianconeri’s 3-1 victory against Sassuolo at Mapei Stadium

Making his third Juventus start in the space of a week, Blaise Matuidi is quickly becoming a permanent fixture in the Bianconeri line-up and the midfielder put in another spirited performance during Sunday’s convincing 3-1 win away to Sassuolo.

“It’s not easy playing these early kick-off matches,” opened Matuidi. “Nevertheless, we acquitted ourselves excellently today, doing everything we needed in order to come away with three points.

“No game is straightforward at this level, but we did very well to win what was a crucial match away from home.

“We achieved this obviously thanks to Paulo (Dybala), who is showing just what a world-class footballer he is every time he plays.

Watching Matuidi in the Juventus shirt, it’s difficult to think that the Frenchman only joined the club one month ago, such is his understanding with the rest of the Bianconeri squad:

“I can always keep improving and I want to give my all in every single match. I’m bedding in well into this group, I’m getting to know the language, my team-mates and Italian football better all the time.

“Raising my game is my daily objective.”
