Miralem Pjanic believes Juventus got the result their composed, measured approach deserved after they beat Porto 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The Bianconeri played a patient game as the sides remain locked together at 0-0 until a quick-fire double from Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves put them firmly in the driving seat ahead of the return leg.
“The boss told us to stay calm and not rush things,” the Bosnian maestro revealed after the game. “We followed his orders and we've managed to come away with a massive result.
“We managed the whole match well - the first half too, although in the opening 45 minutes our final ball was lacking at times.
“We studied Porto beforehand and we knew they were very good at defending. They did even better after going down to 10 men.
“But we kept playing our game, biding our time and slowly wearing them out, then struck at the right moment.”
“We thoroughly deserve this win because we managed the game really well, especially as Porto are used to playing matches like this. Now we have to make sure we finish the job in Turin.”
