Allegri hails 'exceptional' group of players

Massimiliano Allegri has praised his “exceptional” group of players for the manner in which they overcame Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening.

The Bianconeri were made to wait for it but the goal eventually came as Paulo Dybala's brilliant finish nicked the points at the death.

And the boss couldn't help breaking out into a smile when La Joya struck the winner.

“It came to me spontaneously because it shows you how cruel and how wonderful football can be," Allegri began. "We lost the Super Cup in the last minute after fighting back to 2-2 and today we won it with a last-gasp goal.

“The lads were brilliant. We played the way we had to and kept ourselves in it right till the end.
