With a special day of Villar Perosa celebrations in the books for another year, attentions turn now to the new season, starting next Saturday away to Chievo Verona.

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI

“What matters most now are matters on the pitch. The club has improved the team a lot, but from next Saturday, in Verona, we will have to run harder and make sure we win. The ambition is obviously to go as far as possible in the Champions League, but as always, the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto are also essential to us, because nobody gives out trophies until you earn them on the field.

“Even today the boys have shown real professionalism, putting maximum effort into this match, which was the first one with everyone here after three days of training as a full squad. It’s clear that there is excitement in the air with so many champions in the team, but it is fundamental that we find balance and chemistry, because the only thing that matters is we go out on the field and perform.

“Our Champions League objective is an incentive for everyone, even for the youngest players, to do even better, but it should not distort Juventus' characteristics, which are to achieve results through commitment, work and sacrifice, just like all the teams that win in Europe.

“Leo [Bonucci] is in good shape. He’s an experienced and important player for us, who raises the level in our defensive department. Regarding [Cristiano] Ronaldo, I can say that we have bought a great player on the pitch, but above all, I was told that he is a superb professional, and that is certainly the case. If he wasn’t, he would not have achieved what he has done.”

“It has been a great transfer market for Juventus and there is plenty of enthusiasm in the camp. Now our dreams need to become tangible objectives. The squad is complete: therefore, we must start well by winning in Verona. All of the new arrivals are very strong, including Ronaldo obviously, who I believe will make the difference.

“[Regarding being the first-choice goalkeeper], I'm happy, but the most important goals are collective ones. Are we the best team in the world? I do not know, but we are certainly one of the best.”
