The applause for Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning, acrobatic strike in the Champions League began in the 64th minute on 3 April 2018 at the Allianz Stadium. The goal took Real Madrid a step closer to an eventual quarter-final victory over Juventus, but the Bianconeri fans, fully aware of the greatness they had just witnessed, nevertheless rose to their feet to give the Portuguese forward a standing ovation.
It was as if time had stopped still and the round of applause - which Ronaldo has admitted helped in his decision to join the Bianconeri in the summer - still rings true to this day, as CR7 has received the UEFA.com Goal of the Season award, ahead of Dimitry Payet and Eva Navarro.
