#EuroWatch: Atletico begin winter break

Atletico Madrid have already begun their winter break, having concluded their 2018 with a 1-0 win at the Wanda Metropolitano against Espanyol.

The match appeared to be a difficult one for Atletico, as the visitors bossed the possession and total shots stats. However, the home side won thanks to a decisive penalty kick from Antoine Griezmann in the 56th minute. The result leaves Atletico in second, only three points behind the leaders, Barcelona.

Atletico will be back in action against third-placed Sevilla on Sunday 6 January 2019, before facing Girona away from home in the Copa del Rey three days later.
