Mattia De Sciglio had a confident look about him as he reflected on Juve's win at the Stadio Franchi – the look of a man who knows he and the team have done their jobs well.
“We showed how good we are today,” the Italy full-back commented after the game. “We were expecting a difficult match because Fiorentina are a great team and also because of the atmosphere you get here.
“I'm very pleased with how I fared myself but what mattered most was we got the result we wanted.
“[Massimiliano] Allegri worked with me during the week on my position because we knew I'd have [Federico] Chiesa on my side and it would allow [Joao] Cancelo to have more space to push up on the left.
“We found it hard at times but that was to be expected. We held up well against them and come away with all three points.
“We know something always happens when we go on the attack. We have world-class players up front who can score goals for us, so we just have to focus on keeping it tight at the back.
“We've sent out a message to our rivals. It's the start of an important month and hopefully they'll drop a few points along the way.”
