GIANLUIGI BUFFON

"I’m not here to judge what the referee saw, because it was a borderline incident. All I’ll say is that you can’t be that cynical in the 93rd minute, to shatter the dreams of a team that had given everything it had to give. We had heart and enthusiasm, we played well and we showed our character. I’ve always found it an honour to go up against this team and this club in front of this crowd, but tonight we deserved extra time at the very least. We knew we didn’t have much of a chance of doing it, but you never known in life. I knew I could count on these players because they’re capable of anything. We had managed to do it and I’m truly proud of that."

GIORGIO CHIELLINI

"We would have deserved it tonight. I don’t know how many teams can say they’ve produced a performance like that here at the Bernabeu. I can only say that after tonight we are even more determined to win our seventh straight Scudetto so we’re going to be throwing ourselves into achieving that objective even more now."

MEDHI BENATIA

"It was an absurd incident, just like last year with Bayern Munich. We’re really disappointed. It hurts to get knocked out like that, but I’m proud of this team. We played a fantastic game tonight in terms of intensity and technique. It’s unbelievable that our captain isn’t allowed to speak to the referee – the red card was very harsh."
