The Bianconere earnt three points this afternoon after a 2-0 win away at Tavagnacco to go at least temporarily back to the top of the Serie A standings. Two first half headers from striker Cristiana Girelli proved to be enough to earn Juventus Women all three points.

Juventus Women went for it from the off an Girelli in particular, with the number 10 almost getting a tap-in on Valentina Cernoia's cross after nine minutes. The pair combining would go on to be a recurring theme in the game. Cernoia herself went for a goal shortly after but Tavagnacco's keeper, Alice Bonassi did well to parry,

The game's turning point came after 20 minutes, when Girelli rose to head in Cernoia's cross from the right-hand side. The duo combined again 10 minutes later on Cernoia's corner, as Girelli found herself free to nod in once more to double Juve's lead going into the break.

Despite the home side's efforts to try and get back into the game in the second period, but Juventus Women were in complete control of the game, with Eniola Aluko almost adding a third, but the two goals proved to be enough to seal the win for the Bianconere.

MATCH REACTION

Rita Guarino: "Going ahead immediately allowed us to control the game well, despite Tavagnacco closing the spaces well and making it difficult to keep up the pace. We're happy with this result and we want to stay in front in the standings. The level of competition has risen this season, and it's more difficult to get the three points, but when the level is so high, the matches are more entertaining."

Cristiana Girelli: "We are happy to be first place and we will do our best to stay there, even if it's too early to look at the standings. It was good to win at this stage in the season, they are three important points."
