Juventus Women put in thrilling performance to win by five!

On a cold and chilling night at Vinovo, Juventus Women turned up the heat to win 5-0 against visitors, Orobica. Goals from Benedetta Glionna, Cristina Girelli, Arianna Caruso and a double from Barbara Bonansea saw the Bianconere climb back level with leaders Milan at the top of Serie A.

It took Rita Guarino's girls just 19 minutes to get in front and they did so with aplomb. A corner kick in found Glionna at the far post, and Juve's number 18 hit a first-time volley across goal that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Juve made a fast and ferocious start to the second half, as Valentina Cernoia swung a dangerous cross into the box and Girelli got her head on the end of it to make it 2-0 after just two second half minutes. The Bianconere further showed their dominance when Barbara Bonansea scored two goals in two minutes. First the number 11 found herself one-on-one with the Orobica goalkeeper and kept her cool to slot home, before switching close-range to long-range with her second strike rippling the net from distance in the 66th minute.

Showing no signs of letting up Juventus Women added a fifth, with Caruso making the most of a good pass from Glionna to hand the Bianconere a comprehensive win.

Up next for Juventus Women is a top of the table clash against Milan this Sunday.

MATCH REACTION

Cristiana Girelli:

"Today the important thing was to win. On Sunday, an important match awaits us and having played well and realised our strengths has done us good. I'm happy about the goal and for a striker it's always good to score, but the important thing was to bring home the three points. We did it with five goals without suffering a shot on goal and that's important."

Rita Guarino:

"We played good football tonight. We were a bit unlucky and we could have closed the game early but I'm glad the girls have won convincingly. We happy with Bragonzi's debut, she's a talented girl and we needed fresh energy at that time. We will come into an important challenge against Milan with confidence, but we will have to be careful, it will be a tough game."
