Juventus Football Club can today confirm that Mattia Perin has completed a permanent switch from Genoa.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the club through 2022.

Here is the official statement.

AGREEMENT WITH GENOA FOR THE DEFINITIVE ACQUISITION OF THE PLAYER MATTIA PERIN

Turin, 8 June 2018 - Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Genoa Cricket & Football Club S.p.A. for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Mattia Perin has been finalized for a consideration of € 12 million payable in 3 financial years. The purchase value may increase by a further maximum of € 3 million on achieving given conditions in the course of the duration of the contract.

This acquisition will generate economic and financial effects starting from 2018/2019 sportive season.

Juventus and the player have signed a 4-year contract of employment until 30 June 2022.

Mattia Perin’s move to Juventus ends his 10-year association with Genoa, whose youth academy he joined in 2008 before promotion to the first-team in 2010.

Having shown early promise in a season-long loan spell in 2011/12 with Padova in Serie B, Perin proved that he well and truly belonged in Italy’s top flight the following campaign after impressing with Pescara, for whom he made an outstanding 15 saves in a single match against Fiorentina in January 2013.

Upon returning to Genoa in the summer of 2013, Perin made 150 appearances for the club across all competitions and, at the same time, established himself as one of the best Italian goalkeepers currently in the business.

Over the last five years in Serie A, he is tied second with Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma for percentage of shots saved (73%), with Gianluigi Buffon leading the way with 78%. In 2017/18, Perin’s percentage of shots saved rose to 75% - the highest among all Italian goalkeepers to have made more than 25 appearances in the division, while his 12 clean sheets last season was second only to Marco Sportiello (14) among the top flight’s Italian Number Ones.

Having risen through Italy’s youth ranks, Perin made his national team debut in November 2014 against Albania and kept a clean sheet. Opportunities to represent Gli Azzurri since then have been limited with Buffon and Donnarumma occupying the main goalkeeping position, but Perin started Italy's most recent match, a 1-1 draw vs Holland at Allianz Stadium on Monday.

The addition of Perin to Juve’s roster undoubtedly boosts the Bianconeri’s last line of defence, in which Wojciech Szczesny and Perin will compete for time in goal following the departure of Buffon.

Welcome, Mattia!
