Back in the starting line-up against Atalanta, now with a full 90 minutes under his belt and a cup final secured, Blaise Matuidi was understandably pleased with how things went in Wednesday's Coppa Italia semi-final. The 30-year-old had been sidelined since picking up a thigh injury against Sassuolo on 4 February but was the usual dominant force in midfield on his return against Atalanta. “I needed to get used to the match tempo again and now I have to keep working hard in training,” he began.

“It was tough out there tonight because Atalanta are a fine team but we accomplished our mission by winning both legs. “It's great to reach the final – my first with Juve. And hopefully there'll be plenty more to come. “Now we have to concentrate on the league and our game against Lazio on Saturday. We're doing well in Serie A but Napoli are going strong too. “This is a crucial stage of the season and we have two difficult games to play against two very tough teams, Lazio and Tottenham. We must try to get a result in both.”
