The undefeated season for Juventus Women came to an end on Saturday in Vinovo as Rita Guarino’s side fell 2-1 to Brescia Femminile. The Bianconere staged a furious second-half comeback after taking a 0-2 deficit to the break, but couldn’t find the equalizer losing their first match after 17 consecutive victories to open their inaugural Serie A season.

It was a perfect start for the visitors as a Brescia cross looped over Juventus Women goalkeeper Laura Giuliani and onto the crossbar. The ensuing rebound was eventually slid home by Alicja Daleszczyk to give Brescia a 0-1 lead in the fourth minute.

Juventus Women thought they had found an equalizer in the 17th minute as Benedetta Glionna was played through on goal, finishing past goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar, but her effort was ruled out for offside.

Just moments before the half-time whistle Brescia doubled their advantage. After a scramble in the box, Daniela Sabatino was able to tap home from close range to make it 0-2 for the visitors.

Juventus came out of the second half looking to make something happen and in the 66th minute, cut the deficit in half. After some fine work to dribble through the midfield by Martina Rosucci, Lisa Boattin let fly an unstoppable shot from just outside the box, hitting the post and going in.

Rita Guarino’s side would push for a dramatic equalizer and came close on a couple occasions, but were unable to find the breakthrough falling 1-2 to Brescia in Vinovo.

The loss brings Juventus Women and Brescia level on points with 51 each after matchday 18. Juventus and Brescia will meet again in Vinovo for the Coppa Italia quarter-finals in early May while they will next travel to face Fiorentina in the league on Saturday 21 April.
