Following the 1-1 draw in Amsterdam, both Rodrigo Bentancur and Wojciech Szczesny provided their thoughts on the Champions League quarter-final clash.
RODRIGO BENTANCUR
"It was a good game, they proved to be good. They hit us at the beginning of the second half, then we struggled to find space. Now let's and win when we return to Turin!"
WOJCIECH SZCZESNY
"We could have avoided conceding the equalizer, too bad. But the performance was good: we were compact at the back, playing well on the restarts. We are two different teams: Ajax plays high and has quality. In Turin, we have to win, and we have shown against Atletico that we are capable of doing it. It is important to always stay inside the game: tonight, we were running the risk of opening up too much and being caught from behind, but we were good.”
ALEX SANDRO
“It’s important that we scored away from home, but the final result is a pity. However, we did well, although we can still do more. Ajax dribble the ball a lot, but we can be dangerous ourselves when in possession. We were prepared for a difficult game tonight.”
MIRALEM PJANIC
“Ajax can and must be defeated in the return leg. We could have done something more, but they put a lot of pressure on us. They’re not an easy team to face, but we believe in ourselves and we absolutely want to qualify. We could have avoided the goal that we conceded, in Turin we will give something more in terms of aggressiveness.”
