Rodrigo Bentancur has cause for a double celebration, as he and Uruguay made it through to the quarter-finals of the Copa America on the eve of his birthday. The 22-year-old, whose birthday it is today, started from the very first minute alongside this season’s teammate Martin Caceres, when they faced Chile.
Uruguay ran out 1-0 victors on the night, with Edinson Cavani scoring the only goal of the game in the 82nd minute against Chile. The result means Uruguay finished on top of Group C (comprised of Chile, guest nation Japan, and Ecuador) and have progressed through to the following round of the tournament.
This means, that all four Bianconeri players (Dybala, Cuadrado, Alex Sandro and Bentancur) in the Copa America will feature in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
