It's called "Common Goal".

It is a project, created in 2017, which aims to address the major social challenges through concrete help from football.

And it was a footballer who thought up and started the project, Spain's Juan Mata. The idea is simple: those who are part of the world of football, whether they are players, managers or coaches, donate 1% of their salary to Common Goal, which collects funds and allocates them to projects, precisely the “Goals", in which the Movement has selected as areas of action, inspired by the 17 goals of sustainable development sanctioned by the United Nations. All this takes place through a list of Non-Governmental Organizations linked to the world of sport and in particular, football.

Giorgio Chiellini, our Captain, joined the project almost immediately since 2017, and a few days ago he welcomed another colleague, Juventus Women striker Eniola Aluko.

WORDS OF ENI & CHIELLINI

"I really like the motto that says a good person is a good player," explains Aluko. "I think we should always work hard and humbly. All these characteristics make a person better, as well as a good teammate." She then added: "I always wanted to be part of a team, a team: for this reason, I really like the idea of collective philanthropy, and therefore of a movement like Common Goal. If you are a great team, together you can do great things for the world. The goals that I'm passionate about? Those related to the theme of water, and gender equality between men and women. I believe that the power of football is incredible: players are famous people, with many followers, and they can influence people. We must not miss the opportunity to really change anything "

Chiellini also confirmed Eniola's thoughts: "Going forward with the years, we realize that we can be a model for young people. A single word on our part can influence so many people in their lives: we must understand that we are important, that we are idols, and that what we do impacts on new generations. Our help through realities like Common Goal is a small thing, in relation to the big problems, but for example it can help to raise awareness among the new generations about what the world needs, to create an increasingly larger movement in the future. I saw immediately that in Common Goal there was a good chance of growth, and in fact the movement is expanding: it is not easy, but we must increase our goals "
