Girelli: "The start of something big"

24 hours after the magnificent "Première" that saw Juventus Women triumph in the big match against Fiorentina at a sold-out Allianz Stadium, there are still so many emotions flowing in the thoughts of the Bianconere.

Cristiana Girelli spoke about Sunday's experience: "It was an electric Allianz Stadium! It already felt like a special moment from when we visited it during the week - explained the striker - the fans made a lot of noise, then as soon as we entered the field yesterday we all felt goosebumps and couldn't wait to get started."

For the Bianconere number 10, who went very close to scoring the first historic goal of Juventus Women at Allianz Stadium (denied only by the crossbar twice), the "Première" represents a significant step not only at Juventus, but for the whole of women's football: "I was hoping for a sell-out, but I didn't expect it. The thought of the game being sold out during the week was something extraordinary and when the news came out it was an amazing feeling. So many people came to the stadium and not only from Turin, and that means a lot. Girelli added - I'm convinced that this won't just be a one-off, but the start of something big. We're no longer unknown, people follow us and the Women's World Cup will surely help carry this forward, we will all have to work hard at maintaining this enthusiasm."

Truly so many emotions to have experienced, but with a feeling that goes immediately beyond just the joy of the three points: "There was a mix of emotions, because we went from the euphoria of victory to sadness, when we learned of Cecilia Salvai's injury. The first thought immediately went out to her, because she is one of the strongest defenders in Europe and didn't deserve it, especially with a World Cup on the horizon."

The Scudetto race? "Until it's mathematically ours, everything is still in the balance. We took a big step, but it's up to us to follow it through. It's a competitive championship as ever, and Fiorentina have always been a tough team to face, as was Milan, who were leading the standings earlier this year."
