Atletico continued with their quest for top spot in La Liga by claiming a 2-0 victory over Villarreal on Sunday at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Diego Simeone's men maintained their position as second on the log, courtesy of another victory on home soil.

It was Morata who opened the scoring in the 31st minute of action, by scoring a beautiful volley to officially open his account with his new team. Saul Niguez then wrapped up the result two minutes from time, to ensure the race for LaLiga title remained open.

Atletico now sit seven points adrift of first placed Barcelona. Up next for them is Real Sociedad, Sunday, March 3.
