ATLETICO MADRID
It's a very balanced championship so far this year in Spain. Atletico Madrid are currently third, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, but the gap is minimal. Los Blancos lead the standings with 18 points, Barça is at 16 only one point ahead of Los Colchoneros on 15.
On the last match played before the break, it was a goalless draw for Diego Simeone's team, away against Valladolid. They will resume their season at home to Valencia on Saturday.
LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW
The Bianconeri's next European opponents recorded a 2-1 win in their last outing, at home against Arsenal Tula in the Russian Premier League. Former Inter striker, Eder scored after nine minutes, with Aleksei Mirancuk getting the other at the end of the first half. Lokomotiv lead the very tight standings on goal difference, with Rostov, Krasnodar and Zenit St. Petersburg all on 26 points and CSKA Moscow in fifth on 25.
The current leaders will play away at Akhmat next Friday.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN
A 1-1 draw at home to RB Leipzig was the result of Bayer Leverkusen's last game prior to the internationals, with Kevin Volland scoring a 66th minute goal. The Bundesliga has been incredibly balanced with very few points seperating the teams at the top: Borussia Monchengladbach currently lead the way with 16 points, then come Wolfsburg on 15, followed by Bayern Munich, Freiburg, Leipzig, Schalke and Leverkusen all on 14 and Borussia Dortmund just behind on 12 points.
Leverkusen will travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.
