      Happy Birthday, Bentancur!

      Rodrigo turns 22 today. Best wishes!

      Today, Rodrigo Bentancur is celebrating having 22 candles on his birthday cake.

      He seems too young, when you consider the authority and the ability he demonstrated on a weekly basis on the field. On the other hand, there aren’t many players, at his age, who have demonstrated themselves as protagonists in the World Cup, and of course in the recent days, in the Copa America with Uruguay.

      Born in Nueva Elvetia, a city of little more than 10 000 inhabitants, Rodrigo’s first steps on the field as a professional were that of when he pulled on the jersey of Penarol for the first time, before transferring to Boca Juniors in Argentina at a young age. It was in the blue and yellow jersey that he won two league titles. 

      In 2017, with the Celeste, he won the U20 South American cup, and in that summer, his career reached an all-time high when he received a call from Juventus.

      Despite his young age, his grace and movements on the field has been won over many fans in the two years at the club, totaling 67 appearances and scoring two goals. They were two important years, of course, as he went on to lift the Scudetto trophy not once but twice, and a Coppa Italia and an Italian Super Cup.

      These are just some of the reasons why he recently renewed his contract with Juventus, and why he is a fan favourite amongst the supporters.
