This Saturday will be the 36th meeting between SPAL and Juventus in Serie A, and the 18th in Ferrara. Not only that but the total encounters rise to 41 if you take into account the Coppa Italia.

In total Juventus have won 22 times against the Biancazzurri, with 12 draws and just one SPAL success, coming in 1957.

Since returning to Serie A, SPAL have only scored one goal against Juventus, in their 4-1 defeat in October 2017. The most frequent scoreline between SPAL and Juventus in Serie A is 3-1 to the Bianconeri, with the last one coming in 1964.

RECORD GAMES

All the matches in which Juventus scored three or more goals in Ferrara were all between the 50's and 60's:

29 November 1953 - SPAL took the lead through Gianluigi Stefanini, before Juventus came back with two goals from Karl Aage Praest and a strike from Eduardo Ricagni to end the game 3-1.

24 September 1961 - John Charles, Gino Stacchini, Omar Sivori were all off the mark in a 3-0 win.

26 January 1964 - A double from Giampaolo Menichelli and Sivori once more, before Dante Micheli pulled a goal back for the hosts in a 3-1 victory.

However, the game that is still historically remembered as the most exciting game is the 6-3 away win on 21 February 1960. The Bianconeri went immediately ahead with a goal from Charles after just two minutes, but then SPAL equalised through Guerrino Rossi on 14 minutes. Juve fought back and Sivori struck the first of two goals, before Gianfranco Leoncini (below) made it 3-1. Charles scored immediately into the second half as well to make it four, before SPAL's Rossi scored to pull a goal back, the Welshman then responded with yet another goal to complete his hat-trick. Sivori's second was to come, before finally Oscar Massei scored a late consolation for the hosts.
