“It was important to make a positive step after the match against Lazio, and we succeeded." Speaking is Mattia De Sciglio, who was a starter in the Champions League match on Wednesday.

It was against Leverkusen in which he played well, and he provided an important passage of play for Ronaldo's goal: “It was certainly wanted,” he says. “It was a situation in which I found myself in a tight space, so instead of giving it to Paulo in front of me, I saw the opponent coming sideways and I tried the play.”

Continuing to speak about the Champions League: “Who do we want to avoid? It’s hard to say, sooner or later you have to meet all the strongest opponents. Personally, I'd like to face an English team because it's nice to play against them, we did it two years ago.”

And then he touched on the battle for the Scudetto title: “We’ve had some difficulties after the Champions League matches, but it is also true that on Saturday we lost the first and only match in the league until now; we are only two points from the first place standings. We go onto the pitch to always win, because playing against each team is difficult. Also Sunday will be a tough game, but if we go on the pitch as Juve, and do our job, we will take the three points home.

“Inter? Like Lazio, are proving to be our rivals from the start of the season: they are on a great run, we will meet Lazio again in the Supercoppa final, and this is one of our short-term goals: we will try to take revenge."

On the Juventus attacking trio, Desci explains: “The decision is up to the coach, who evaluates whether to play them or not from the start or during the match. We adapt to his choices, because each of us knows what he must do and how he must move.”

To wrap up, he reflected on how the team has fared this season: “The first part of the season was very positive: we certainly still have plenty of room for improvement. On a personal level, I am happy with what I am doing, I must continue like this.”
