Juve-SPAL: The wins at the Allianz

For a long time Juventus-SPAL has been missing from the fixture list. Before the two matches played at the Allianz Stadium in the last two years, the two teams faced each other at the Stadio Comunale and the last meeting occured way back in 1968. After 50 years the match is back on the calendar and up to now has always been dominated by the Bianconeri.

2017/18: 4-1

Juventus-SPAL is played on Matchday 10 and it is during a moment in the seaosn, in which the Bianconeri are a goal machine. In the previous round, in Udine, the team led by Massimiliano Allegri won by a tennis score: 6-2. Against the Emilians, there are less goals but the sense of superiority is even more accentuated than in the game in Friuli because the game proves to be not as up and down over the 90 minutes and is more linear. After 14 minutes, Federico Bernardeschi hits an amazing shot from outside the box (and to this day is still his only goal in Turin). Eight minutes later, Paulo Dybala beats Alfred Gomis on a free-kick. Alberto Paloschi gives some hope for SPAL with a goal, but it proves to be nothing more than a consulation. In the second half, Gonzalo Higuain and Juan Cuadrado make it four goals for the Old Lady. Three days later, the team will continue its goal-scoring trend by going on to win 2-0 at the San Siro against Milan.

2018/19: 2-0

Juventus and SPAL face off on the 13th round of the 2018/19 season. It turns out to be a very favorable weekend for the Bianconeri who go to +8 over Napoli, who are held at home by Chievo. Besides their ranking in the table, there are other aspects that make the day positive: The serenity of the victory, Juve's 12th out of 13 games, with a goal in each half, the correct management of energy which is somethng very important when the fixture list is crowded, given Champions League commitments. The day's goals come from Cristiano Ronaldo and Mandzukic, both once again on the scoresheet, after they had already done so the previous week against Milan at San Siro (and three days later, the same combination decides the match vs Valencia).
