Juventus Women claimed their second successive Serie A Femminile victory by defeating Sassuolo 1-3 at Stadio Ricci. Eniola Aluko opened the scoring in the first half, before a brace by Cristiana Girelli after the break secured the three points.

After last weekend's comeback against Empoli at Vinovo, the Bianconere came into the fixture bouyed by their first victory of the Serie A season.

The first chance of the game came at the feet of the Bianconere with only three minutes on the clock. Eniola Aluko found herself with yards of space around her and struck a powerful right-footed effort that sailed just wide of the goals.

Most of the attacking was coming from Juventus and it was Cernoia, who forced the Sassuolo goalkeeper into making a save with her curling left-footed strike. But it was easily handled by Lemey. Cernoia then sent in a cross into the box for the onrushing Pedersen but it skipped over her feet and went straight into the hands of the Neroverdi shot stopper.

A great chance then fell to Aluko in the 25th minute, when Hyyrynen laid off a ball for Galli who was on the edge of the box. She then crossed it into the box for the striker, but she, unfortunately, directed the ball just wide of the post.

Juventus went into the break with a 0-1 lead when Eniola ran up the flank, burst into the box, rounded her marker and fired an excellent finish past Lemey in the 44th minute of play.

Rita Guarino made her first change of the match in the 55th minute, when she introduced Maria Alves in place of Arianna Caruso. Girelli then had the ball into the back of the net in the 58th minute of the game, but it was ruled out for offside. Two long crosses were then sent into the box for Girelli, but she couldn’t get onto the end of them. Maria Alves then went on an excellent run into the box, but before unleashing her effort, the ball was cleared from her feet.

Girelli then scored two goals in two minutes; the first a tap-in from an excellent cross by Hyyrynen and the second from a penalty kick that she struck calmly and decisively. Sassuolo then pulled a goal back in the 80th minute to make it 1-3 when Sabatino whipped the ball into the back of the net to wrap up a second Serie A win in a row.
