He is called Danilo Luiz Da Silva and known simply as Danilo. The Brazilian defender, born in 1991, is a new Juventus player after the joined the club from Manchester City.

AGREEMENTS WITH MANCHESTER CITY

Turin, 7 August 2019 - Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that these agreements have been finalized with Manchester City Football Club:

• definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Danilo Luiz da Silva for a consideration of € 37 million payable in three financial years. Juventus and the player have signed a 5-year contract of employment until 30 June 2024;

• definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo for a consideration of € 65 million to be paid in three financial years. The economic effect is positive for about € 28.6 million, net of solidarity contribution and auxiliary expenses.

Having come through the youth set-up at America Futebol Clube, Danilo made his debut with the Belo Horizonte side in 2009, before then joining Santos the following season. He spent two years playing in San Paolo, before then making his move to Europe.

He then spent four years playing in Portugal with Porto, where thereafter, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he spent two years in the Spanish capital. His last two campaigns saw him feature for Manchester City.

Since his time in South America, Danilo’s career has consisted of success. At Santos, he won the Paulista league title in 2011, while a year later, he swung aloft the Copa Libertadores. That isn’t all, in those years, he won the U20 World Cup (2011) and silver in the 2012 Olympics in London.

And then came the victories in Europe. Since transferring continents, Danilo has won at least one league title (two Premiera Liga, one La Liga, two Premier Leagues) in each country played in.

That’s not all, with Porto, he added two more trophies to his tally: the Portuguese Super Cup. Meanwhile, with Real Madrid, the defender lifted the Champions League twice, the European Super Cup once, and the Club World Cup. At City, in addition to the league titles won, he took home the winner’s medals of the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup (twice), along with* two Community Shields.*

Danilo is an electric player and a right-back who, when called upon, can also play in the midfield. He has also demonstrated to have great individual technique. And his incisiveness lies in defence: in his two seasons at City, Danilo won a total of 78 battles.

Here are some examples: Danilo boasts six assists (in 39 presences)* in the Champions League,* out of the Brazilian defenders, only Dani Alves (66 appearances) and Marcelo (62 appearances) have done better than him in the competition. He also recorded* four goals and as many assists in his two seasons at City*. Moreover, in his last seven seasons played in Europe, he has always provided at least one assist and scored at least one goal.
