Coppa Italia 1994-95

After coasting through the first round of the tournament with a 3-1 aggregate victory over Chievo, the Bianconeri were then forced to grind out results in the last 16 against Reggiana (3-2) and quarter final against Roma (4-3).

Marcello Lippi’s men overcame a tough challenge in the semi-final as they travelled to the capital and recorded a 1-0 success over Lazio in the first leg. Ravanelli capped off the impressive performance with 83 minutes on the clock by rounding his marker and then the keeper to present himself with a tap-in. The Biancocelesti took a second-leg lead in Turin to set nerves jangling, but Juve maintained their composure and secured safe passage to the final thanks to second-half goals from Marocchi and Baggio.

Parma had proved to be a thorn in Juve’s side over the course of the season as they pushed the Bianconeri all the way in the league and then handed them a defeat in the UEFA Cup final. Both sides stood on the brink of completing historic doubles.

In the first leg at the Stadio delle Alpi, Juventus defender Porrini scored a timely first ever goal for the club when he found the back of the net with a headed effort early on in the piece to give his side an advantage to take to Emilia-Romagna. The 26-year-old then doubled his career tally in the return fixture at the Stadio Tardini with another strike in the opening minutes before Ravanelli’s second-half curler wrapped up a domestic double and sparked scenes of jubilation among the Bianconeri travelling faithful.
