In addition, Romero made two assists, being the third-youngest defender to have taken an active part in at least four goals scored in the top five European leagues, behind only Achraf Hakimi of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Prior to joining Genoa, the young defender plied his trade in his native Argentina for Club Atlético Belgrano in the Primera Division, making a total of 20 outings across all competitions. He has seven Argentina U20 caps to his name, having made all of his apperances at the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship in Ecuador.
