A positive week’s work in Germany came to a good end on Sunday, 10 August, with Juventus’ Men’s First Team claiming a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund as pre-season continued.

The Bianconeri took the victory thanks to an Andrea Cambiaso brace, completing what was a perfect day for the club after the Women’s First Team had won 4-0 against Dortmund earlier in the afternoon.

It was a day to remember for the more-than 80,000 fans present, and all the more so as Mats Hummels said farewell to football as a starter for the Bundesliga side.

A GOOD FIRST HALF

The game started at a high pace, and it was the hosts who looked to get on the scoresheet first through Serhou Guirassy. The Bianconeri struggled to get to grips with things in the early exchanges, until a Pierre Kalulu cross perfectly found Andrea Cambiaso to turn in the opening goal after a quarter of an hour.

Dortmund looked to react through Jobe Bellingham 10 minutes later, but his inviting cross isn’t met by any of his teammates.

At the other end, Khephren Thuram tried his best to add to the Bianconeri’s lead - taking aim in the 27th, 35th and 40th minute - but he wasn’t able to find goal. Having settled, the Bianconeri looked good, and went in ahead at the interval.

CAMBIASO AGAIN

Juventus continued to impress after the break with Francisco Conceicao probing, and the second came just a matter of minutes later. Joao Mario and Kenan Yildiz turned things on and, put through on goal, Cambiaso made no mistake.

Dortmund pressed to reduce the deficit and Guirassy sought a way to beat Michele Di Gregorio and then replacement Carlo Pinsoglio, but it wasn’t until the 89th minute that Maximilian Beier managed to get one back for the hosts.

In the end, it was Igor Tudor and his boys who were the happier of the two sides, taking a satisfying win home after an impressive day, to cap off an excellent week.
