Sassuolo have played host to Juventus just eight times. The Bianconeri have suffered one defeat, which provided the impetus for the extraordinary title charge in 2015-16, two draws and collected five victories. The first success came the first time the sides met in Emilia, in 2014. The background photo captures the moment when Claudio Marchisio, set up by Andrea Pirlo, gave Juve a 2-1 lead, before Fernando Llorente added a third to seal the win.
JUAN TAKES A BOW
Sassuolo-Juventus in 2016-17 was a match that flowed in one direction only, that of Juve, who collected the three points thanks to two goals in the first half. The star performer on the day was Juan Cuadrado, whose creative promptings provoked outbursts of applause of appreciation from the fans inside the Mapei Stadium.
STEPHAN SETS OFF
Sassuolo-Juventus in 2017-18 is remembered for Paulo Dybala's hat-trick. In the photo, Stephan Lichtsteiner pushes down the flank, one of the many forward runs by the defender. The Swiss full-back only stopped tormenting the home defence when he was substituted with 20 minutes remaining.
COMFORT ZONE
Juve's largest winning margin at Sassuolo was notched up in 2018-19. The final score read 3-0 in favour of the Bianconeri, and the photo shows the scorer of the opening goal, Sami Khedira. The German struck when the Emilians failed to clear their lines, allowing Cristiano Ronaldo a sight on goal. Andrea Consigli could only parry the effort into the path of Khedira, who tucked the ball home.
DANILO STRIKES ON SIX
Danilo is not noted for his scoring exploits, so it is surprising that Sassuolo were on the receiving end of the versatile Brazilian for two years in a row. The first of the two arrived in Reggio Emilia in 2019-20 when he struck an unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area after a corner kick from Miralem Pjanic was only partially cleared. Just 6 minutes had passed since kick-off.
FEDE RUNS RINGS
Even if he did not score in the most recent meeting in Emilia between Sassuolo and Juventus, Federico Chiesa displayed his vast array of skills to dominate the match. His quick thinking kick started a number of Juve attacks, one of which allowed him to provide the winning pass for Adrien Rabiot to open the scoring. Two breathtaking coast-to-coasts only just failed to finish in his finding the net - goals that would have gone down as classics of the encounter.
