Juventus and Benevento played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at the Ciro Vigorito Stadium. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring in the 21st minute, but a first half stoppage time effort by Letizia meant the points were shared.

MORATA OPENS THE SCORING

Benvento started off the better of the two sides: Szczesny made a save on Barba at the near post, before Lapadula threatened with a glancing header that sailed narrowly over the bar soon after the minutes silence that took place in honour of Diego Maradona in the 10th minute. But with all the host’s pressing, they couldn’t prevent Juventus from taking the lead in the 21st minute, following a sublime effort from Morata. Chiesa played a terrific ball forward ball cross the field to Morata, who was on the left side of the box, he swivels and turns his defender to fire it into the back of the net. Dybala nearly doubled the lead minutes later when he was involved in a give-and-go with Morata on the edge of the box, only to curl his effort past the goalframe.

LETIZIA NABS STOPPAGE TIME EQUALISER

Benevento went in pursuit of a late equalizer just before the break, by putting pressure on the Bianconeri backline. Szczesny did well to pull off two saves in quick succession, but he couldn’t do anything about the final action of the half when Letizia fired in a diagonal effort on the volley into the bottom far corner.

NO SECOND HALF BREAKTHROUGH

Filippo Inzaghi’s side came out strong at the start of the second half, and they threatened through Improta’s angled drive that flashed past Szczesny at the far post. Morata rued the chance he missed when he flashed his header from Chiesa’s cross wide from two yards, before then trying from range with an effort that sailed wide. Kulusevski, Bentancur, Bernardeschi where introduced into the match in place of Ramsey, Arthur, and Chiesa, while Dybala was denied by Montipò in the 86th minute with a fingertipped save. Both teams went in search of a stoppage time winner, but neither side could break the deadlock.
