The Bianconeri’s study centre, J-College, which provides academy players with the best academic and sporting education, this morning opened its doors to a ‘Fate il nostro gioco’ session designed to teach the pitfalls of gambling.

Sixty J-College students were split into two groups to take part in the interactive seminar headed up by physicist Diego Rizzuto and mathematician Paolo Canova, who have been taking their ‘Fate il nostro gioco’ project to schools up and down the country since 2009.

Three objectives stem from the session: using mathematics to explain how and why the dealer always wins before then analysing the numerical rules which guarantee a victory for the dealer; trying to reestablish the odds of winning, without any influence from dishonest advertising; and finally to show how gambling exploits our thought process in terms of statistics and probability.

The seminar was introduced by the club’s Human Resources and Organisation Director Sergio Spinelli, who underlined the importance of obtaining an education before making the step up to the football world: one of the primary philosophies at J-College.
