Slotting right into a new league, unleashing a great brand of football, offering the club a fresh international perspective, taking the team far in Europe… not to mention winning a Scudetto and a Coppa Italia.

These are just some of the reasons why Joe Montemurro scooped the Panchina d'Oro for women’s football in Coverciano today, at what was the first in-person event since before the pandemic.

This not only speaks volumes of Joe, a modern coach who has forged a group of players and staff with an iron will to win, all the while seamlessly transitioning from Rita Guarino's impressive legacy, but also of Juventus Women as a whole. Indeed, it was Montemurro's predecessor Guarino who claimed the award for her impressive 2020/21 season at the helm of the Bianconere.

JOE’S THOUGHTS

"What we achieved last season was really special and this award tells you all you need to know about 2021/22. I'd like to thank the staff, the other coaches and of course my family for making this possible - it's an honour.

"Day-to-day life at Juventus is fantastic because it's an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from each other. We’ve now got other objectives in our sights. We're keen to keep on improving, cement our position as Italy’s finest, as well as make a step up in Europe. The foundations have been laid – it's now a case of building on them.

"2022/23 has seem women's football make great strides. The standards are getting better and clubs are investing a lot. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents and family."
