Juventus Women claimed first leg advantage in the UEFA Women’s Champions League after defeating Vllaznia 2-0 at the Loro Borici Stadium in Albania on Wednesday evening, courtesy of goals from Cristiana Girelli and Lina Hurtig

The first chance of the game arrived in the sixth minute in favour of Juventus when Hurtig’s floated cross met Girelli at the back post. She immediately struck it and it deflected just wide of goal to go out at the post. Six minutes later the Bianconere found themselves a goal in front when Girelli, who was completely unmarked in the box, rose above everyone, and headed home Hyyrynen’s cross from the right side.

Doci had a good chance to pull one back from a set-piece, but she failed to trouble Peyraud-Magnin as she blasted it high over the target. The Bianconere were dominating proceedings, and they nearly got a second goal when Hurtig’s forward ball found Boattin, the left-back went bursting into goal and fired at goal only to see her shot stopped by the goalkeeper. Goal number two came on the stroke of half-time when a Cernoia cross into the box met Hurtig, who nodded it into the net.

Vllaznia started off the second half with a chance of their own, but Peyraud-Magnin was equal to it. Tuija Hyyrynen then made a great interception on the hour mark to deny the Albanians of a goal, while Hurtig’s low centered ball to Girelli was turned wide by the No.10. The remainder of the half saw Juventus largely in control as they went on to win 2-0.
