Qatar 2022 Recap | Narrow defeats for Brazil and Serbia

Yesterday evening, Friday 2 December, the group stage of the World Cup drew to a close in Qatar and ended with defeats for Brazil, 1-0 to Cameroon, and for Serbia, 3-2 to Switzerland. Two defeats and two Bianconeri debuts with opposite consequences.

BREMER BOW BLISS

A painless defeat for the national team of Alex Sandro, Bremer and Danilo. Not only had Brazil already qualified for last 16 but defeat to Cameroon did not dislodge them from first place after wins over Serbia and Switzerland. Bremer played the entire 90 minutes plus lengthy stoppages, when Cameroon scored, to make his first appearance at the World Cup.

DUŠAN DEBUT DISAPPOINTMENT

Serbia's defeat in a five-goal thriller with Switzerland proved to be decisive. Kostić and Vlahović played from the first minute and made a positive contribution despite their team's exit. Serbia responded to going behind early through goals from Mitrović and Vlahović. A first World Cup goal on his World Cup debut for Dušan. However, the Swiss equalised before the break and completed the turnaround thrugh Remo Freuler. The 3-2 victory earned qualification for the Swiss national team, second behind Brazil on goal difference.
