Tevez wins Guerin d’Oro prize

Carlos Tevez has scooped the prestigious Guerin d’Oro accolade, an annual prize handed out by Italian weekly football magazine Guerin Sportivo to the player who has received the best average media rating.

Nineteen goals in 34 appearances during his first season in Serie A enabled him to come out on top, fending off competition from Giuseppe Rossi and Luca Toni with an average mark of 6.75.

He is the seventh Bianconeri player to receive the illustrious recognition, following in the footsteps of Michel Platini, Paulo Sousa, Angelo Peruzzi, Pavel Nedved, Mauro German Camoranesi and Andrea Pirlo.
