Lia Wälti is officially a new Juventus Women player.

The Swiss player has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, and these were her very first impressions after signing on in black and white: "I'm thrilled; it's a big step for me after leaving a place where I spent so much time. I've always followed Juventus Women; I know many of the players. It's a new challenge, and I'm really happy to be here."

FIRST FEELINGS

“I feel excited, it’s a big step for me after leaving a place where I had spent so much time but it’s a club I’ve always followed. I know a lot of the players here, it’s a new league for me as well and I’m really excited to be here.

WHY JUVENTUS?

“Every time I have to make a decision I listen to my gut feeling. When I spoke to all of the people at the club here I had a really good feeling that they, firstly, value my game, and also that they have big goals - they want to win trophies. There’s a really good squad here, the league has grown a lot in the last few years and I’m excited to explore this new league with Juventus, and I was very impressed by them last season.

VAST EXPERIENCE

“First of all, I’m coming to a new team so I need to and want to adapt. I’m coming to a new culture so I want to learn the language and the style of football here, but at the same time I want to bring my experience to the team. I was really lucky to play in Germany and England, where I got to experience a lot. I know what it means to compete at the highest level and I hope, together with the other players here, that we find a way to beat other big teams both in Italy and in Europe.

CHARACTERISTICS

“I’m a defensive midfielder, I think I read the game really well and I’m a good tackler. Everybody used to say I make players around me better by covering for them, so I think my reading of the game gives the players around me the freedom to attack. I’m a leader, I want to take responsibility in my role and be sure that we, firstly, don’t concede, and secondly, look to create chances. I want to be a good teammate.

PERSONAL AND TEAM GOALS

“With the team it’s clear. Juventus won the Italian league and Cup last year, so we want to do that again. It’ll only get harder because other teams are investing a lot. But in Europe we want to make it through the League Phase and get into the quarter-finals, that would be a big achievement. Personally, I want to adapt and fit in as quickly as I can, I want to learn a new language, a new football style and I hope I can improve my game here with the girls.”
