Thirty-five years ago to the day, a point in the capital proved enough to secure the Bianconeri’s 18th Scudetto title with a game to spare.

Having established a lead through Roberto Bettega’s strike, Giovanni Trapattoni’s side were eventually forced to settle for a point after Roma midfielder Agostino Di Bartolomei levelled matters at the Stadio Olimpico.

But results elsewhere tipped the balance in the visitors’ favour as second-placed Venezia stumbled to a shock home defeat against Perugia, putting the Bianconeri out of sight at the top ahead of the final round of fixtures.

The following Sunday saw Juventus round off the campaign in style by downing their closest title challengers 3-2 in Turin.
