The Allievi Nazionali suffered only their second defeat of the season as midtable Virtus Entella won 3-2 during an entertaining encounter in Chiavari this afternoon.
With Felice Tufano’s troops looking to open up a seven-point gap over second-place Empoli at the start of play, they began the game in fine fashion as Jacopo Ciarmela fired the visitors in front after 32 minutes.
Unable to capitalise on that advantage however, Virtus Entella levelled through Marco De Anna three minutes after the restart. But back came the Bianconeri who went ahead once again as Fabio Morselli made it 2-1 on 53 minutes.
That setback didn’t deter the hosts as they rallied and equalised through Francesco Giunta on 66 minutes before taking the lead for the first time in the meeting when Nicolò Barabino struck only six minutes later.
And with that the scoring stopped as the Allievi Nazionali lost for the first time since falling 4-0 away at Parma in September.
Ironically, Tufano’s young guns will try to put today’s defeat behind them when they welcome the Gialloblu to Vinovo on Sunday 25 January.
